The spa has been discovered as a lucky accident: in 1957 as a result of oil research drillings a water column with 65-70 metres height spouted from 1 282 m depth to the surface, the medicinal water containing 15 000 mg/l of minerals has been found.
19th of August 1962 – opening of the first pool (nowadays nr. 5 half-covered medicinal pool "Szent Kelemen").
The Ministry of Health classified the thermal water of Bük as medicinal water.
The Health Minister classified the area as a medicinal bath of regional importance.
